1281. Jhalpi Para Village Received Electricity for the First Time
- Jhalpi Para village in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district got electricity connection for the first time. The region was deprived of power supply since independence.
- It comes after a news agency had reported the discontent of residents of the village over the absence of power supply.
- The villagers alleged that there is no electricity connection in the houses but meters have been installed due to which they are receiving electricity bills.
- The district administration, denied the claim of villagers receiving electricity bill while assuring that power supply will be provided in the area very soon. In March last year, 2018, the Government of India had stated that out of 18,452 villages in India that were power deprived 3 years ago, 17,181 have been electrified.
1282. Global OEMs begin mobile assembly in India under 'Make in India'
- On January 27, 2015, it was reported that global brands Xiaomi and Samsung, along with Lava, became the first major mobile OEMs to start local smartphone assembly in India, marking the early success of the Make in India initiative.
- Xiaomi partnered with Foxconn in August 2015 to locally assemble the Redmi 2 Prime at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, its first “Made for India” phone. This move reduced import costs and aligned with Foxconn’s $5 billion investment plan in India.
- In early 2015, Samsung expanded its Noida plant to manufacture models like the Samsung Z1 and Galaxy S6, investing ₹517 crore and collaborating with MSMEs to develop local skills. It also utilized its Sriperumbudur facility for mobile and consumer electronics.
- Lava began smartphone manufacturing in April 2015 at Noida with a capacity of 1 million units/month, announcing a ₹2,615 crore investment over seven years to build two large plants and an additional ₹200 crore for R&D and testing capabilities.

1283. Navi Talai Village of Maharashtra Gets Electricity for the First Time
- Navi Talai, a tribal village in Akola district of Maharashtra, erupted in joy when they got electricity in their homes for the first time.
- Earlier residing in the core area of the Melghat Tiger Project in Amravati district, they were shifted and rehabilitated by authorities in Navi Talai in 2018.
- The village under Telhara taluka, which has a population of around 540, was without electricity connection since then, forcing people to live in darkness.
- The groundwork for bringing electricity to the village was prepared by local social activist Gopal Kolhe and MLC Amol Mitkari, who regularly visited Navi Talai and liaised with MSEDCL for setting up transformers and to ensure every home gets power connection.
1284. Sukma Village in Chhattisgarh Gets Electricity for the First Time
- In a historic development, Elmagunda, one of the most sensitive regions in the Maoist-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, has finally been illuminated with electricity, marking a significant stride forward just a day before India's 77th Independence Day anniversary.
- The population of approximately 500 residents, Elmagunda is situated near the borders of Bijapur district and Telangana state.
- The successful electrification project was a collaborative effort between the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL), District Police, and the Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF).

- आजादी के 75 साल बाद छत्तीसगढ़ के जशपुर जिले के बगीचा ब्लॉक में स्थित महुआपानी गांव में आखिरकार वह दिन आने वाला है, जब अंधेरे को चीरते हुए पहली बार बिजली पहुंचने जा रही है। यह गांव विशेष पिछड़ी जनजाति कोरवा बाहुल्य है, जो अब तक बिजली जैसी बुनियादी सुविधा से वंचित था।
- गौरतलब है कि यह गांव जशपुर जिला मुख्यालय से 85 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित है। यहां 100 से अधिक परिवार रहते हैं, जो वर्षों से बिजली के बिना कठिन जीवन बिता रहे थे। गांव में बिजली पहुंचने से शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, और रोजगार के नए अवसर खुलेंगे, जिससे ग्रामीणों के जीवन में एक नया बदलाव आएगा।
- पीएम का गृह जिला है जशपुर, महुआपानी गांव की यह बड़ी उपलब्धि तब संभव हो पाई जब ग्रामीणों ने मुख्यमंत्री के कैंप कार्यालय में गांव में बिजली की समस्या को लेकर आवेदन दिया। उनकी समस्या को गंभीरता से लेते हुए त्वरित कार्रवाई की गई और अब गांव में बिजली की सुविधा आने वाली है।
1286. TSECL completes 100% Railway electrification work on 271 Km track: Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath
- On August 28, 2025, Tripura achieved full railway electrification across its 271 km network from Churaibari to Sabroom. Power Minister announced the milestone while inaugurating a 132 kV transmission line at Agartala Railway Station.
- The shift from diesel to electric trains reduces environmental harm and aligns Tripura with India’s broader rail electrification goal, where 98.8% of the national broad-gauge network is already electrified. The project boosts connectivity, efficiency, and sustainable transport for the state.
- Tripura currently runs 19 key trains, including Rajdhani and Tripurasundari Express, plus four DEMU services carrying 12,000 passengers daily.

1287. IN-SPACe Enables ISRO Tech Transfer To Five Indian Firms For Biomedical, Solar Bonding And Industrial Use
- On 29 August,2025 It was reported that, IN-SPACe, India’s space sector regulator, transferred five ISRO-developed technologies to five Indian firms in Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
- The move aims to boost commercialisation, reduce imports, and expand applications across biomedical, solar energy, automotive, and industrial manufacturing sectors.
- With these five new Technology Transfer Agreements, IN-SPACe has now executed 98 in total. Chairman Dr. Pawan Goenka said scaling by industry will unlock broader applications, while ISRO, IN-SPACe, and NSIL remain partners in enabling industrial growth.
1288. India's GDP Grows 7.8% In Q1 Compared To 6.5% Last Year
- On 29 August 2025, It was reported that, In April–June 2025, India’s GDP grew 7.8%, surpassing the Reserve Bank’s 6.5% estimate. This marks the fastest expansion in five quarters, positioning India, ahead of China’s 5.2%, as the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
- The surge came from strong services sector growth at 9.3% and agriculture at 3.7%, supported by robust government spending, lower inflation, and favorable monsoons. However, construction slowed to 7.6%, compared to 10.1% growth during the previous year.
- RBI projects overall GDP growth at 6.5% for 2025–26, with gradual quarterly moderation. Governor Sanjay Malhotra cited rising capacity utilisation, fiscal policies, and continued services demand as reasons for optimism, expecting construction and trade to sustain momentum ahead.

- On August 29, 2025, Tripura launched PVC ration cards, replacing paper cards, during a state-level PDS review in Agartala.
- Reforms include 600 model ration shops, raised dealer commission, e-KYC completion drive, subsidies on essentials, and consumer complaint apps for efficiency and accountability.
- With 4.78 lakh PVC cards issued in phase one, Tripura aims to rank first in India’s PDS, ensuring transparency, festival support, and consumer-friendly distribution.
